I can't believe I haven't touched this blog a few years back. I had a draft of a blog post that never got posted of which I just posted a few minutes ago and I thought wow...its been that long....I'm pretty sure no one reads this anyway so I might as well treat it as a journal, right? Well maybe not completely, but close to.
After reading the last blog post, I started that blog post after the first semester, crazy that was 2 years ago. I think all in all, I had my fair share of dealing with nerdy people. I find it more hilarious that nerdy is THE trend, I guess we call those people hipsters, right? I experience nerdy on a completely different level and reverting back to the previous post, I will continue the different types of "nerdy", but taking it from point of view after 2 years in the Computer Information Technology department....
1. I did mention the gamer as the first one, and I think it'd take up about a quarter to half of the student in that department. Surprisingly, not all of the CIT students were hard core gamers, just a few. I think you'd find some of the more serious ones in the Computer Science department. And when I say hard core gamers, I'm not talking about 12+ hours on your Xbox or Playstation. I'm talking about ones that you play on your PC. Not to dis on those who use a console, but those who create a server space for their own game play, that's what I call a nerd ;).
2. The Overly Confident Nerd - Now there are a TON of these in whatever tech or science department. Seriously there are the ones that always and I mean ALWAYS, have to be ones that are always right, always trying to correct/outsmart the professor, always being the alpha dog. Not to say that they aren't smart, of course they are, but it is very and I mean VERY irritating that you have someone always talking to you in a condescending manner. Now I've had quite the fair amount of those in every course that I've taken. Maybe sometimes they don't speak in a condescending manner, but if you ask a basic question, of which I have tons because tech things don't come naturally to me, they say something in response to which belittles any intellect you may have in your brain. What was most satisfying was when the professor just ignored them, or even came back and put them in their place :). Now these are your cast of Big Bang Theory...well maybe more so Sheldons. Its a love/hate relationship you have with those people, you recognize and respect their intellect, but their ability to interact with others makes you want to bang your head against a wall.
3. The Humble Genius - These are those who are completely opposite of the overly confident nerd. Well not complete, but close. They are very, very smart. More than likely chance on the same playing field as that of the Overly Confident Nerd, but don't revel in the fact that they are super smart. They know they aren't perfect by any means, but they are super smart and don't try to show off. Some of these people are very quiet, and socially awkward, where as others are actually normal on the social scale. They are willing to help others and not scoff that others are not as smart as they.
After writing just the last 2, I think I'll end this here for now, maybe pick it back up later. Now I can shove every single student into a category, but I think there isn't category for some students, or even some students fit in more than one. Myself where do I fit in the categories of the CIT nerds at BYU-Idaho? I don't know. Maybe the novice more than anything else. I decided on technology because it is a booming business that looks like it won't be going away too soon (let's hope its not). And not only that but because its something that I can take anywhere with me. Proves more to be true since I'm a new mommy (...uh yeah a lot has happened in the last 2 years ;)). I understand the appeal for geeky things and Curtis loves talking tech with me, and for some others computers and programming is a passion, but this is definitely not my passion. You've heard the saying "don't knock it until you've tried it"? Well I thought doing something in the tech world might strike something within me where I'd find a new passion. Uh....I was sadly mistaken. Granted I do love it when code works or I learn something new, but it is not what I love to do in my free time. One of the guys I'm friends with codes on his free time, and that almost seemed a little absurd to me. But I realized just as well, when you look for jobs, people want to see what you do with your free time. See what you can create when you don't have an assignment looming over your head. Doing techy things is that passion for some, but really for me, I'll save the programming for when I HAVE to do something. And when I say "have"...well I'll save that for another blog post ;)

Let's Try this Again....
So after much thought, and considering that me and Curt aren't in school, I thought I'd take another stab at blogging. Now really I feel that me and Curt don't have anything going on that's amazing or even great that people would care to know about or even hear about. We both live boring lives where we just go to school, stay at home and watch a movie or two. Now that school is over, we do everything in the last sentence just minus the school. If we're not sleeping or eating (or relaxing....if even that at all...) we're at work. But none the less I was thinking of ideas of what I could write that would make this a little more fun to read or even have other people read it. For my sisters it kind of makes more sense for them and that's partially because they have friends that actually read their blogs. Me on the other hand have little to no close friends. Now I'm not saying that this is a popularity contest, but I don't really see the need if no one is going to read this. But over time and until I can get this to look better, and come up with funner content, stupid ramblings will have to do.
So me and Curt (as you can tell from previous paragraph) that we're back in the BURG! We had our first semester back from a 2 year hiatus of working and what not, and to say the least it was a hard semester. I didn't do too bad, but Curt did bite off a little more than he could chew. He had a hard time balancing time between school and working 30 hours a week. Overall lesson learned, don't overload yourself. For me it was okay....I learned some computer languages and come to find an appreciation for nerdy people, but at the same time though, they're really weird.
Taking a ton of computer classes with a lot of nerdy and geeky people, I've put them in different categories if you will.
1. The gamer- I would say this takes up approximately 60-80% of the class. Most of the assignments take little to no time at all to finish, and projects you get done within a few days. Majority of the time is taken up by playing either some kind of RPG on either a game system or their massive gaming laptop. Weekends are filled playing World of Warcraft and Mountain Dew.
